HISTORYThe
2008 Get Wiff It™ Tournament and Festival has roots going back to the 1998
Yardball™ program where the
Orioles, Home Team Sports and
Infinity Broadcasting were local sponsors of a 10 city national tour sponsored by
Major League Baseball, True Value™Hardware and Bubble Yum™. The event was successful in some cities and went dormant in others as the folks at MLB and the Wiffle® folks never really could agree on terms and essentially running a Wiffle™ Ball tournament/Festival and not being able to use the name Wiffle® made it an uphill battle.
Other tournaments have come and gone and some still exist today (and do a great job) thanks to a core group of
Wiffle™ fanatics and the pureness of the game of Wiffle® and the millions who pick up a yellow bat and plastic ball and swing for the fences with their family and friends.
Fast forward 10 years and a group of guys talking about cool ideas that can get people excited about the
fun that once existed in all of our lives and how to recreate those times in a
family friendly atmosphere. Include
"kids" of all ages and
raise some money for a good cause.
